The Amidah is Judaism staple, stable three times daily prayer.
Where did it come from? What is its early history?
And does it say all we want to say?
Each session will consider an aspect of the Amidah’s history and pose a challenging question, led by Rabbi Jonathan Wittenberg
1st July: Green Amidah
The rabbis who composed it lived close to the land, but where are the prayers for nature, animals and our environment?
With Rabbi Adam Zagoria-Moffet and St Albans Masorti Synagogue
8th July: Egal Amidah
The rabbis were men so they included the patriarchs, but what about the matriarchs?
With Rabbi Chaim Weiner
15th July: Healing Amidah
The Amidah includes a prayer for healing, but does it say enough? How have healing prayers and services developed since?
