Shul Attendance for Jewish Schools Admission
Shul Attendance for Jewish Schools Admissions
Please check the admissions criteria for the school(s) you are applying to very carefully, as each school’s criteria is different.
Welcome to New North London Synagogue!
If you are due to apply to Jewish schools this coming autumn for your child(ren) entering Primary School or Secondary School in September 2026, you will need to confirm Jewish practice as part of your application(s), and one such way of doing so is through synagogue attendance.
- All schools set their own admissions criteria and their criteria may vary. Please check each school’s admissions criteria to see what you need to do.
- Everyone is welcome to attend in person services but if you are not an NNLS member and would like to attend services, please email the NNLS Office in advance. NNLS will only accept evidence of attending in person services.
- You must collect dockets from the shammashim and children's service leaders, to be used as evidence of attendance.
- Click here for our Guide for Families, which includes further info.
Email all your evidence of attendance to the NNLS office.

For a great shabbat morning experience at nnls...
We warmly welcome all families to come along and attend one of our children’s services to suit the age and needs of your family. Services run weekly between 11.00am – 12.00pm on Shabbat morning.
- Toddler’s Service is for pre-schoolers and is normally held in the Akiva School Hall
- Infant children’s service for Reception to Year 2 is normally in Gan Alon
- Juniors Years 3 to 5 is normally upstairs in our Youth Room
If you have more than one child you might want to split up for part of the time. We do kindly ask you to support the service by listening, participating, and singing along wherever you can.
You are also very welcome to any of our adult services. Assif and Hakol Olin have mixed seating so you can sit together as a family, if that feels more comfortable for you. In our Traditional service, men and women sit separately.
Get a docket from the children’s service leader at the end of the service or from greeters and Shammashim inside adult services.
Kiddush usually commences at 12.00pm (and there is usually more than one!) so take your pick. We welcome everyone to our services.
If you are a family with more than one adult and more than one child do consider attending different services according to age/inclination. We will all meet up for kiddush afterwards in the Foyer and Beit Knesset.
Dockets are available at all services. If your service leader does not advertise this to you, please do ask.
