Leket

Leket Israel, the National Food Bank, is the leading food rescue organisation in Israel. Unique among all other organisations that serve the poor in Israel, Leket Israel’s sole focus is rescuing healthy, surplus food and delivering it to those in need through partner nonprofit organisations.

Leket Israel deals with harvesting surplus agricultural produce and collecting cooked meals then sorting and distributing them to the needy throughout the country. In addition, the Nutrition and Food Safety department ensures that the collection and distribution of the food is held to the highest food safety regulations. Additionally, Leket Israel only donates 100% nutritious food.

Leket Israel works with a staff of professional dieticians who conduct nutrition workshops for targeted populations geared toward raising awareness of proper nutrition.

The NNLS Destitute Asylum Seekers Drop-in provides much-needed support to asylum seekers and their children, who are often in a desperate situation after fleeing from their home country to escape persecution. We depend entirely on voluntary donations.

Our monthly drop ins support around 600 asylum seekers and offer a welcoming, warm, and friendly space to relax and socialise. We offer supermarket vouchers and travel money as well as buying in supplies such as underwear, socks, gloves and hats, toiletries, and sanitary products.

Our team of volunteers offer legal signposting, appointments with doctors and nutritious home cooked food.

Gifts to the Poor (Matanot la’Evyonim)

It would be unthinkable to celebrate without also reaching out to others. Traditionally one gives money which is distributed on Purim itself. This year we have chosen to support Leket Israel - the country's national food bank and the NNLS Destitute Asylum Seekers Drop-in.

We would also like to encourage you to donate food to local food banks, or to Foodbank Aid which collects, sorts and delivers to food banks much needed food, toiletries and household items. They deliver exactly what food banks request, thereby reducing waste.
