The Drop In supports up to 400 destitute asylum seekers and their children and is held on the first Sunday of each month at premises near to the synagogue. Our volunteers offer legal signposting, appointments with doctors and therapists, nutritious cooked food, nearly-new or new clothing and footwear and a welcoming, warm and friendly space. Every client also receives a supermarket voucher and travel expenses.

The project launched in March 2006 with just one asylum seeker attending – nowadays, we welcome people from more than 60 different countries. The asylum seekers travel to us from all four corners of London and sometimes beyond and the project is run entirely by volunteers.

We set up the Drop in because we became aware of the desperate needs of destitute asylum seekers, many of whom go hungry and survive predominantly on the kindness of friends.

A large number of our clients are survivors of rape and/or torture and have chosen destitution over deportation because they fear for their lives if they are returned home.

For further details about the location of the Drop in call 07966 145098 or click here for more information about the Drop in.

Cooked food can be brought to the Drop-in between 12.30 and 3pm. New volunteers are always welcome.

We welcome new volunteers (aged 17 to active retirement) at any session.
All interested volunteers are requested to register in advance.
Please ask your friends and family to come too!
